What general mechanical gears do

Gears move torque from the main drive motor to the drum, developer, fuser and paper path. They are usually the part that fails after a bearing stiffens, rather than failing on their own.

How to identify the right part

Count the teeth and check the shaft bore: two gears can look identical and differ by a single tooth. Replace the mating gear at the same time when one has been running worn.

Signs a replacement is due

A rhythmic click or grind, a repeating pitch in the print, or a drive-related error code.

Grades available

Parts in this category are offered in several grades, and the grade is stated on every product page. Genuine and OEM parts are made by the original manufacturer, identical to the part fitted at the factory. Compatible parts are third-party replacements built to OEM dimensions and function, which is where most of the cost saving sits.
